Gap Analysis

When embarking on a new FRMS project, the organisation’s management may have no framework or past experience to estimate the activity, costs or direction. Each airline will go through the same 5 step process to implement an FRMS but each will tailor it’s activity according to its operation and rarely will two organisations adopt the same level of process to each step.

Accordingly, in order to get a sense of how much, how many, where to start and which direction to go, it is useful to have a modest, preliminary ssessment from people who know the business and have done this before, to scope out the work and evaluate which elements of an FRMS are actually in place; together with an outline costed proposal for the project.

Often there has been some progress at grass roots level in informally managing fatigue. This initial initiative can be used as the starting point and built upon to create some quick wins and get the process moving.
