Implementation
A Phased Implementation Programme
FRMSc follows a 5 level maturity cycle when assessing and implementing an FRMS with a Client. The ICAO fatigue management guidelines are included in this cycle.
The risk of experiencing a fatigue related incident is high at the beginning (level 1) but decreases as the organisation moves through the highest level 5. Conversely, well-being, safety and business performance all increase with progress to the higher levels.
The resources required to complete each stage will be dependent on the operational complexity and global span of each organisation but should be expected to be high at the beginning of the engagement and gradually reduce as the client confidently takes more responsibility for implementation. FRMSc will increasingly take an oversight, auditing and mentoring role leaving the processes embedded in the organisation.
Additionally, other factors must be taken into account such as the maturity of the existing Safety Management System, the amount of education and training required as well as the number and complexity of any Fatigue Studies that may be commissioned.
Throughout the programme, FRMSc will supply subject matter experts and mentoring as required. Similarly, policies and documentation along with education and training will all be developed to suit the organisation.
Getting Started
For anxious project managers inexperienced in FRMS and wanting a little bit of help over the first hurdle, we recommend an initial consultation and Gap Analysis to scope out the best way forward. This is an easy and inexpensive way to evaluate the best way forward and to quantify the work needed. We can assess your operation and offer everything from an outline direction through to a fully worked up and costed project plan so that you can take that important first step with either a toe in the water or as one large stride.
